Most of us watch TV to unwind. But as genuine reality TV deepens its hold on network schedules, your TV time can turn into a great prospecting tool. Just paying closer attention can tip you off to markets you may be missing. Here’s an example. Watch HGTV and you’ll notice that nearly all homebuyers, regardless of budget, seem to consider a home office a necessity. This should tell you that more people are operating businesses from their homes, are working from home (or at least taking work home), or have a side business they run from home in addition to their “regular” jobs. Are these people who could use what you sell? How would you let them know? And how can you relate all that at-home labor to the benefits you offer? Of course, that’s just one example, but watching the way real people behave, even on TV, can turn up new markets for you.
